Two young men killed in Sunday morning shooting

Flint Police are searching for the shooter responsible for a double homicide.

A makeshift memorial of balloons tied to a stop sign was the only visible reminder of the violence by Sunday afternoon. It happened just after 4:00 a.m. Sunday near Dayton and Wisner.

Investigators say a Genesee County Sheriff TMs deputy heard gunshots in the area, and went to check it out. He saw a vehicle speeding away.

He stopped that vehicle in the 2200 block of Dupont. He found two shooting victims inside. Both of them were young men. Neither of them survived.

Police have identified one victim as Kadeem Carter, 20.

We TMre still working to identify the other young man, said Sgt. Shawn Ellis Sunday.

We need the public to step forward and help police out. We need to act like we TMre policing our own streets, said new business owner Rich Root.

Two weeks ago Root bought Pope Glass and Window, which is located adjacent to where the shooting happened.

This community is not going to get better by itself, said Root.

Police are asking anyone with information that could help in their investigation into these two murders to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL, or Sgt. Ellis at 810-237-6919.
