UM-Flint foster care student reflects on chance for success
FLINT, Mich. - One local college student was given the opportunity to reflect on her success.
Bailey Raney, a U-M Flint foster care student, told her story at the Community Champions Breakfast as part of the M-Powering My Success Program.
The breakfast was a way to highlight the most recent local, state and national trends and needs of foster care students with key community partners.
"A lot of the students that reach the age of college, actually aging out of the foster care system, with no support or resources, so our program serves as that bridge, as you had mentioned, to help them in college and make sure that they succeed while they are here,” said life skills coach Kayla Freeman.
The program is an on campus resource for students who have experienced foster care.
