US wins gold in women's slopestyle

Jamie Anderson has given the United States its second gold in slopestyle snowboarding at the Sochi Olympics.

Anderson did it with a nearly flawless second run today, a day after Sage Kotsenburg captured in the men's gold medal.

American Bode Miller, one of the pre-race favorites in today's men's Olympic downhill, lost speed on the lower half of the course and faded to a disappointing eighth as Matthias Mayer of Austria won the gold medal.

Switzerland's Dario Cologna won gold in the men's 30-kilometer skiathlon. Sweden took silver and Norway got the bronze medal.

Norway has the most medals overall with six. The Netherlands has moved into second place, with a total of four, after winning gold today in women's 3,000-meter speedskating. The U.S. has three medals.

Host Russia won its first medal of the games when Olga Graf took bronze in the women's 3,000-meter speedskating final.
