Boil filtered water advisory lifted for Flint residents affected

Possible contamination following water main break prompts boil water advisory in Flint (WEYI/WSMH)

Rob Bincsik, City of Flint Director of Public Works says water main break near Avon and East 8th Street in Flint have been repaired and the precautionary boil filtered water advisory lifted for Flint residents affected.

“Once crews repaired the break, we worked to collect samples to test the water to ensure it was safe for residents to use without boiling first," said Bincsik. “We received the results this afternoon and they passed. I consulted with experts at the Department of Environmental Quality and we agree the precautionary boil filtered water advisory is no longer necessary.”

FLINT, Mich. --Some resident in Flint are being prompted to boil their filtered water in Flint after water main break, according to a news release

The affected area is Avon and East 8th Street bordered on the south by I-69, the north by Court St., the west by Lapeer Rd, and the east by Gilkey Creek.

The City of Flint Water Department is working to get the water main break located, repaired and pressure restored.

Water staff will be taking other remedial actions such as flushing and collecting bacteriological samples from around the system near the area of the low-pressure area.
