Detroit police say they arrested a woman who left her three young children home while she took her fiance to a hospital after he was shot.
The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News report officers found the girls ages 1, 4 and 5 in the home Thursday on the city's west side. Police 3rd Deputy Chief Rodney Johnson says there was no food in the house and conditions were "deplorable."
Police say the woman's 37-year-old fiance got into an argument around midday with her teenage son and the son shot the man in the hand. Police found the children home alone and are looking for the son.
Police say the gun used the shooting was found at the home. The fiance was listed in stable condition. Charges are pending.
