Workers and sport enthusiasts head to stores to stock up on cold weather gear
BURTON, Mich. - Some area businesses are cashing in on the extreme cold.
People are rushing to specialty stores to get the best gear that will protect them from the weather.
From factory workers to the water department, employees who work outside have been buying up coats, hats and socks by the bundles.
Ice fishers and snowmobilers have also been heading to the stores to get protective gear.
Some have decided to kick it up a notch and get clothes that can be heated by battery.
The president of the store says many people were not prepared for the cold due to the mild fall.
When asked what is the most purchased item in the store, they say it's Carhartt’s extreme arctic jackets, which is a Michigan owned company.
