      Zittel's Final Score to close

After 24 years, an institution for sports lovers in Grand Blanc is closing. Zittel's Final Score is ready to sell it's last baseball card.

From it's Facebook page, Gary Zittel writes...." we are closing our doors at the end of the month. It has been a great time. The customers that have come through the door have become our friends and over the years we have made a lot of friends. Our store was a great meeting place for everyone young and old, to tell stories to look and buy sports memorabilia from the past and present. We had a wonderful time and along with you we are going to miss everyone. From my DAD and my brothers MARK, JEFF, STEVE and myself we say Thank you for the most wonderful 24 years anyone would want to have".

Through the years, sports fans have come into the store to buy sports memorabilia. But the best part is talking with Mr. Zittel, who has encyclopedic-knowledge of the Detroit Tigers.

On a personal note, I've been in the store several times with my son. (see picture) It's a walk into the past, a place to talk sports and just to hang out.

Zittel's has featured many sports stars through the years for autograph sessions. But it's the warmth of the Zittel family that kept bringing people back.
