CAN Council seeks volunteers for to help neglected and abused children
SAGINAW, Mich.--A local organization aimed at helping abused and neglected children is holding an open house on Feb. 8 to attract a special kind of volunteer.
The Can Council is looking for Court Appointed Special Advocates better known as CASAS.
CASAS are highly-trained volunteers serving as the voice for children who are in the court system due to abuse or neglect. People from all walks of life who are at least 21 years old are encouraged to apply in Bay or Saginaw County. We spoke to Willie Owen. he's been a CASA for the last three years and says it changed his life.
"As a CASA you're with the kids all the time. I might show up at school or during the holidays just to see the joy on their face," said Willie Owen.
For more information on becoming a CASA you can head to 715 North Euclid Avenue in Bay City or contact Can Council here.
