Grand Blanc Twp. Police Department investigates car break-ins
Grand Blanc Township Police continue to search for suspects tied to car break-ins.
Police say the thefts happen mostly at apartment complexes throughout the township.
They say thieves go from car to car early in the morning looking for unlocked doors and steal what's inside.
Police are also looking into three stolen cars that were also unlocked.
The police chief says they started noticing the uptick six weeks ago.
Now the department is asking people to double check their doors are locked.
“The one thing we do see across the board for as long as I can remember is the vast majority are unlocked vehicles. I can't stress enough of locking your vehicles and taking valuables out. We can drastically reduce that number if we do those small things,” said Police Chief Ron Wiles.
The Grand Blanc Township Police Department will soon start a new program.
It's geared towards helping people get into a nightly routine where they double check to make sure their cars and homes are locked.
