Local children hit the sidewalk for National Walk to School Day
Flint, Mich--Thousands of kids laced up their shoes and walked to school on Wednesday for International Walk to School Day.
Many of those kids were from right here in Mid-Michigan. We met up with the staff at Freeman Elementary in Flint.
This is the 20th Walk to School Day for Freeman Elementary and about a hundred kids came out. The school invited some very special guests to attend including former Freeman student and Flint Councilman Scott Kincaid and Flint Firebirds Mascaot Hot Wingz.
"My parents still live up the street from this school. It's amazing seeing these kids getting so excited for school. I want to make sure that they are able to receive the same great education that I received," said Councilman Kindcaid.
The effort is coordinated by the Michigan Fitness Foundation and CRIM is also a partner.
