Owosso Downtown prepares for first ever NYE Ball Drop and Block Party

Owosso, Mich- It was a project a couple of years in the making. Foster's Coffee owner, John Moore went to a NYE celebration in the Western part of Michigan and knew he wanted to see a similar event happen in his town.

In partnership with several community organizations including the Shiawassee County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Owosso Main Street took on the challenge of making Moore's idea a reality.

The event will take place on December 31 from 8 p.m. to 1 p.m. The event ends with fireworks.

The Ball Drop is a family, FREE event. The Bagleman, Foster and Venue at 219 will be providing kid friendly activities including FREE Face painting and Balloon twisting provided by A Family Affair Face Art and Balloon Twist.

Jumbos Burger Bar will be sponsoring a Safe Ride Home Service free of charge. More information will be available at each location night of the event.

Large parking lots are adjacent to the event sites and are free.

The ball was designed by a local designer and feature more than 8,000 LED lights!
