Michigan State Police trooper injured in crash with semi
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. —
UPDATE at NOON -- The trooper involved in the accident in Berrien County has been released from the hospital and is already back to work on desk duty prior to returning to the roads tomorrow.
The semi truck driver in the incident has been charged with misdemeanor reckless driving as police say he was driving too fast for road conditions.
A Michigan State Police trooper was injured in a crash Wednesday morning in Berrien County.
It happened at eastbound I-94 near Napier Road in Benton Township.
Michigan State Police confirms to Newschannel 3 a semi rear-ended a patrol car who was following behind two MDOT plows out treating the ice-covered highway. After hitting the patrol car, the semi jack-knifed and hit the patrol car a second time.
The trooper is going to the hospital with leg pain, but is expected to be okay. The semi driver from Ohio was not injured.
MSP will investigate what caused the crash. Traffic is moving in the area.
