Dantonio discusses rocky offseason at MSU Spring Game
The Michigan State Spartans went 3-9 in 2016, but things took a dark turn now that three of their players are being investigated for sexual assault. Because of the investigation, the program closed all of their spring practices to the media and fans, opening just the Spring Game.
In the week leading up to the Spring Game, Mark Dantonio spoke with the media, saying that in addition to the suspension of the three players under investigation, other football players are under suspension for other reasons.
When it came time to kick off on Saturday, 15 players who are listed on the team's roster were not in uniform. The list (in alphabetical order): Drew Beesley, Josh Butler, Demetrius Cooper, Donnie Corley, Felton Davis, Messiah deWeaver, Josh King, Kenney Lyke, LJ Scott, Tyson Smith, Brandon Sowards, Kyonta Stallworth, Demetric Vance, Jalen Watts-Jackson, Khari Willis.
Dantonio would not discuss those 15 players, saying the program does not discuss injuries and will not discuss the suspensions.
The Spartans open the season against Bowling Green on September 2nd.
