18 Holes of Mid-Michigan: The Loop at Forest Dunes
Year after year, Forest Dunes in Roscommon is named one of the best public golf courses in the country by various golf magazines, but a new course on the property is getting its own attention.
The Loop at Forest Dunes opened last year, and was named the Best New Public Course 2016 by Golf Digest and Best New Course You Can Play 2017 by GOLF Magazine. Inspired by the Old Course at St. Andrews in Europe, designer Tom Doak made it reversible, meaning you play the course one direction one day, then the opposite direction the next. There's no golf carts, no second cut and fescue fairways. Caddies help the golfers navigate the firm and quick fairways and greens, making for one of the more unique golf experiences in the state, maybe even the country.
