BCS: Big win helps Seminoles; loss knocks Michigan out of top 25

The FSU Seminoles are back at number two after a big win over Miami.

Third-ranked Florida State gained ground on idle No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Oregon in the new Associated Press college football poll. Both of the top teams were off this week and with the Seminoles' 41-14 win over then No. 7 Miami, they received six first-place votes in the new poll.

Alabama remains No. 1 with 52 first-place votes, three less than last week. Oregon received two first-place votes, a loss of one for the Ducks. The loss dropped Miami seven spots to 14.

Rounding out the top five after Alabama, Oregon and Florida State are Ohio State and Baylor.

Notre Dame moved back into the rankings at No. 24 and Michigan fell out after losing to Michigan State. Michigan State is now at number 17.

In the new BCS standings, Florida State leapfrogged Oregon into second place behind Alabama.
