Fundraiser held for Flint Boxer Claressa Shields

Claressa Shields heads to the World Boxing Trials in May.

Flint Boxer Claressa Shields continues to get closer to her goal of competing in this summer's Olympic games in London. She leaves for the World Boxing Trials in China in a few weeks.

She recently returned from the Olympic Trials in Spokane, Washington as well as training facilities across the country.

All the traveling does not come cheap, so Wise Guys Pizza in Flint once again hosted a fundraiser for Shields and her trainer, Jason Crutchfield.

All-you-can-eat pizza was just $10, with all the proceeds going to travel expenses.

Shields was the Olympic Trials Champion, winning every match. She remains undefeated heading into the World Boxing Trials in May.

All Shields has to do is place in the Top 8 in China, and then she is guaranteed a spot in the first-ever Women's Boxing competition in the Olympics.

Shields told NBC25 she is humbled by all the community support.
