Loons come from behind, defeat Dragons

Loons second baseman Pedro Guerrero tags Dayton's Yorman Rodriguez out to complete the top of the first

Down twice in the game, the Great Lakes Loons rally to beat the Dayton Dragons 9-7 in the series opener.

Loons pitcher Greg Wilborn missed the throw to second base as he tried to pick off Jefry Sierra of the Dragons, who consequently made it to home plate and gave Dayton a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Siera left the field favoring his left arm, and did not return to the game.

The Loons jumped ahead in the third with Pedro Guerrero scoring on a balk by Dragons pitcher Jacob Johnson, and an two-run homer from Darnell Sweeney, giving them a 3-2 lead.

Down 7-4 in the sixth, an RBI double by Jesse Bosnik and a two-run homer by Guerrero tied the game at seven for the Loons.

A line drive to left field by Bosnik in the bottom of the eighth sent Scott Schebler home to give Great Lakes the lead.

Now having won five of their last six, the Loons continue their series against Dayton on Thursday night at Dow Diamond. A victory would hand Great Lakes their fifth straight winning series.
