The Michigan Warriors held a meet-and-greet at Perani's Hockey World in Flint.
The team says it's a way for the players to get to know people in the community - as well as a time for free food and comradery with one another.
For a lot of the athletes, it's their first time far away from home as they play for a shot at a college scholarship and/or a professional opportunity.
Burton native, Jordan Uhelski, said it's a chance for both as he gets junior league experience right here at home.
"Growing up, I used to watch the Flint Generals and I always wanted to be on the ice there in front of my family and friends," Uhelski said. "Now, a lot of my friends can come watch me play and compete for a Robertson Cup."
The Warriors begin their season on Sunday, September 23.
