Serebryakov Records First OHL Win Against Kingston
Sun, 25 Nov 2012 04:56:21 GMT — The Saginaw Spirit gave their fans an intense, entertaining game, taking on the Kingston Frontenacs on Saturday night at home, winning 2 -1. Both Eastern and Western Conference teams came out strong in the first, however the Frontenacs were able to score first on a power play goal by Warren Steele, with assists coming from Henri Ikonen and Michael Moffat. The Spirit fired back with a short-handed goal by Florida Panthers prospect, Vince Trocheck, assisted by Terry Trafford and Brandon Prophet. The first period ended Saginaw 1 - Kingston 1. After a great goaltending duel, neither team was able to advance in the second. That kept the score tied at 1-1. Shots on goal after the period were Kingston 19 - Saginaw 16. The Spirit and the Frontenacs came out with a solid effort in the third, however the Spirit were able to break the tie with less than five minutes left in the game, with a goal from Terry Trafford, assisted by Vince Trocheck and Jason Shaw. The assist by Vince Trocheck tied him for second in all time Spirit points with Jack Combs, with both players at 229 points in their Spirit careers. The game ended Saginaw 2 - Kingston 1, with shots on goal Kingston 34 - Saginaw 23.
