Spirit fall to Sting at home

Spirit lost to the Sting Thursday at home 3-0.

The Saginaw Spirit took on the Sarnia Sting on Thursday night, losing at home 3 - 0.

Both Western Conference teams came out strong in the first. However, the Sting were able to advance first with a goal from Davis Brown, his first OHL career goal, assisted by Alex Carnevale. Even though the Spirit had 26 shots on goal, they weren't able to solve goaltender JP Anderson. The first period ended Sarnia 1 - Saginaw 0.

The second period opened up with a Sting power play goal by Montreal Canadiens prospect, Alex Galchenyuk, with assists coming from Charlie Sarault and Phoenix Coyotes prospect, Connor Murphy. The second period ended Sarnia 2 - Saginaw 0.

After a great goaltending duel, the Sting scored an empty net goal with less than 30 seconds left in the game by Alex Basso, with assists coming from Alex Galchenyuk and Charlie Sarault. The game ended Sarnia 3 - Saginaw 0, with shots on goal Saginaw 42 - Sarnia 28.
