      Spirit Prepare For Busy Three Games in Three Days Week

      The Saginaw Spirit will kick off their 2013 portion of the season with three tough assignments this week against Western Conference competition, with two of the games coming on home ice.

      The Saginaw Spirit will kick off their 2013 portion of the season with three tough assignments this week against Western Conference competition, with two of the games coming on home ice. The Spirit will open the week with a stop in London for the team??s first look at the Knights on Friday, January 4 in a 7:30 start. London recently saw a 24 game winning streak come to a conclusion with that run representing the second longest string of consecutive victories in OHL history. Friday??s game can be heard on FM Talk and Sports WSGW beginning at 7:15.

      From there, the Spirit embark on a seven game home stand at the Dow Event Center opening on Saturday, January 5th at 7:11 when Saginaw plays host to the Owen Sound Attack. The week wraps up on Sunday, January 6th in a 4:00 start against the Guelph Storm. Sunday??s game will be the first of two Spirit Faith Days presented by Causley Trucking.

      Spirit International Hockey Notes

      Vince Trocheck and Team USA will get a second crack at Jake Paterson and Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship in Russia as the Americans have moved on to the Semi Finals at the event. The two teams will hit the ice once again on Thursday after meeting in the round robin portion of the tournament with the Canadians winning 2-1.       Meantime at the Under 17 Challenge, Spirit defenseman Brandon Prophet and Team Ontario will take the ice today in a game against Team Quebec, while the unbeaten Team USA squad will take the ice against Team Slovakia.
