It was the battle of the bigs Friday night as Jordan Hare and Arthur Hill went on the road to meet Matt Costello and Bay City Western Friday night.
The game was close going into the half, but Arthur Hill turned it on in the second.
Jalen Adams had 23 points for the lumberjacks. Hare was held to only four points.
Matt Costello also had 23 points for the night, mostly in the second half, but his Warriors fell short 73-63 at home. Arthur Hill's head coach Greg McMath talked about the lumberjacks game plan going in to Friday's match up.
"Well we wanted to take Costello out of the game as much as we could. We know how important he is in negating anything they do offensively as far as passing it and handling the ball, so we mixed up our defenses against him and we kept him quiet for the most part," McMath said. "He got going a little in the fourth quarter though. They have a good solid team and have been playing well, but we came out and played hard and were victorious tonight."
Bridgeport was supposed to have a home game, but a MRSA scare at the high school moved the game to Caro. The Bearcats had to put their perfect record on the line in enemy territory. But, it turned out to be no problem for Bridgeport. The Bearcats led by 10 at the half and came away with the victory 68-46.
To the Flint Metro Conference: The Clio Mustangs were still looking for their first conference win of the season, they hosted the Blackhawks of Ortonville Brandon Friday. Clio led early in the game, but they could not hold it. Brandon won 67-62.
