This season's Mr. Basketball scored 16 points and blocked a Laingsburg shot with 10 seconds left and the Buccaneers hung on for their second straight Class C state title, 40-39.Morris deflected Sam Edwards' shot and Jalen Pettes got a steal seconds later. Pettes missed a free-throw attempt but the Wolfpack couldn't get the ball downcourt before the buzzer."(Morris) pulled it out," Beecher coach Mike Williams said. "Without him, we're not sitting on this podium."
Morris' block came 20 seconds after Edwards swatted his attempt to give the ball back to the Wolfpack (24-3).
The Buccaneers (27-1) needed everything they had to stave off a game Laingsburg squad making its first finals appearance. The Wolfpack slowed the game down and, after a turnover-filled first half, took better care of the ball and led for much of the second.
