Beecher wins third consecutive state title!

When you're talking about some of the best programs in the state of michigan regardless of which sport you're talking about, the discussion has to begin with the Beecher boys basketball team. For the third straight season and for the fifth time in the last six years the Buccaneers took home a state title beating Grand Rapids Covenant Christian 73-58 in the Class C State Finals at the Breslin Center.

"Being in the moment it's kind of hard to put it into perspective," said head coach Mike Williams. "I know it's a great accomplishment but when I get older and look back and see what we were able to accomplish I probably can have a better perspective on it. Right now I just feel blessed and I'm happy for my kids and I'm happy for the community that we're able to bring back something positive to Flint and to keep the Beecher basketball program on the map."

For senior guard Malik Ellison, this was his third state championship. "We put our heart and soul into this program. I feel like I set the standard people can look at my career and say it doesn't matter what size, you can do it."
