Frankenmuth Student Section is a MHSAA finalist

A shot of Frankenmuth student section's video they posted on Youtube to enter the contest.

The MHSAA is doing something different this basketball season, they decided to honor the student fans instead of just the student athletes.

They're calling it Battle of the Fans, and the Frankenmuth Student Section is one of many schools that entered the contest by creating a youtube video.

Turns out the MHSAA liked what they saw; Frankenmuth is now one of five state-wide finalists.

MHSAA representatives will head to the different schools during home games to make their final decisions.

The contest, organized by MHSAA staff and its 16-member Student Advisory Council, will reward the cheering section that best creates the positive and festive atmosphere made possible when students show enthusiasm, togetherness and sportsmanship while rooting for their team.

MHSAA heads to Frankenmuth on January 21st for their home game against Freeland.

The other finalists are Grand Rapids Christian, Petoskey, Reese and Rockford.

The MHSAA will produce a video of each of the finalists, then there will be an online vote February 20-23rd that will contribute to determining the winner.
