Hometown Hoops: SVL Titles won, teams peaking heading into playoffs
In our Hometown Hoops Games of the Week, two teams went home with a Saginaw Valley League Championship.
The Heritage girls tipped of the night against Carman-Ainsworth, jumping out to an early lead and never looking back. The Hawks winning their second straight Saginaw Valley League title.
In the nightcap, the Carman-Ainsworth boys exacted revenge on Saginaw after falling to the Trojans in last season's SVL Title game, winning 99-60.
Then in the Genesee Area Conference, the Hamady boys took care of Atherton 93-75, while in a non-league battle, the Beecher boys beat Northwestern 91 to 64.
In the Tri-Valley Conference East, the Bridgeport boys started hot and stayed hot against Millington, winning 65-43. Meanwhile, the North Branch rallied from a halftime deficit to beat Birch Run 63-57.
The International Academy of Flint boys won a share of the Michigan Summit League title by halting Bay City All Saints' winning streak 59-44.
In girls action the Kearsley girls rallied against Clio in the fourth quarter, beating the Mustangs 59-56, improving to 10-10, the first time the Hornets seniors beat the Mustangs.
Elsewhere, the Goodrich girls started slow but warmed up as the night went on, beating Bendle 60-47.
