Powers Catholic took on Davison in a Big Nine match up Friday in Davison.
This one was not decided until the final minutes.
The Cardinals led by one point with 1:33 to go in the game, when Powers' Emily Sweet hit a three pointer. Then, Chargers' Kim Berry hit a lay-up - one of her 17 points - and the Cards could not recover.
Powers wins 46-40. Head coach Thom Staudacher said wins are wins, but it's extra sweet to beat a conference rival.
"The kids had a lot of heart," Staudacher said. "We started playing with confidence even in the last couple of minutes. They dug deep and found a way to win. We have camaraderie with this team, we know each other. We want to beat each other, it's just a great rivalry."
To GAC Red action, Lakeville Memorial headed to Goodrich to take on the Martians.
Lakeville only trailed by two after the first, but the Martians proved to be too strong. Goodrich wins it 70-55.
In the Flint Metro Conference, Swartz Creek entered the Hornets' nest at Kearsley, which is never an easy place to play.
But, it wasn't a problem for the Dragons, they get their 10th win of the season 64-58.
