The playoffs officially begin Monday for boys high school soccer with the first round of districts Monday and Tuesday.
Undefeated in the TVC, the Frankenmuth Eagles begin their campaign Tuesday at Garber, a team the Eagles have already beaten twice this season.
Frankemuth has been very successful this season, going 18-3-1, their only losses coming to Midland, Davison and Powers Catholic.
The Eagles are a relatively young team, of the 20 varsity players, 13 of them are first year players.
Last year Frankenmuth lost in a shootout in the first round of districts, the Eagles are hoping to move on further this year.
"We put a big emphasis on possession and short passes," Frankenmuth Assistant Coach Andrew Ayala said. "We've got lots of movement and we try to make sure we don't get into the game where we kick it and go chase it."
"We pass the ball very well," Senior Defender Matthew Thompson said. "We have excellent forwards and we have a strong center midfield."
"We're more of a technical skill team," Senior Adam Bookmyer said.
Head coach John Ayala, in his 15th season at Muth, believes they'll have to find a way to beat Powers Catholic if they want to get out of their district. But, he said, he won't overlook their first game against Garber. ??
