NBC25, FOX66 and Catholic Charities teaming up to help those in need

    FLINT, Mich. — NBC25, FOX66 and Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties are teaming up to help those in need.

    All through the month of December, you can donate non-perishable food items, personal care items, and winter coats, hats, gloves, and mittens.

    Starting Saturday Dec. 1, you can drop off items at all Dort Federal Credit Union branches, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

    Catholic Charities’ three soup kitchens rely heavily on donations. They accept non-perishable food items, cutlery kits, cups, napkins, and monetary donations. Foods most needed currently are pasta, tomato sauce, canned vegetables, canned meat, rice, beans, boxed potatoes, stuffing, and canned fruit.

    Catholic Charities’ Center for Hope Community Closet distributes toiletries, household items, and clothing to persons in need. They are most in need of bar soap, dish soap, laundry soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, and deodorant. They accept travel-sized and hotel toiletries. Also, there is an urgent need for new or gently used winter items such as hats, gloves, mittens, coats, snow pants, boots, and blankets for all ages, especially for children.
