Sensory-friendly Santa event held at Genesee Valley Center
Not all children can handle a visit from Santa.
For those with developmental disabilities, jolly old Saint Nick can be downright scary.
So a sensory-friendly Santa event was held on Sunday at the Genesee Valley Center.
It allowed families with children of all spectrums with special needs to experience a visit with Santa, in a compassionate way.
A mother of a child who participated says she's thankful for the event.
"I mean just...you want to do everything that any other kid can do you know and like these kind of events we haven't taken him to before and it's just a big deal to be able to do everything anybody else can do," said Samantha Groll.
The event was held in partnership with Autism Speaks, which advocates and supports those with autism spectrum disorder.
