3D mammogram imaging to help McLaren better detect breast cancer
FLINT, Mich. – There's new technology to better detect breast cancer, and it's now at McLaren Flint's Imaging Center.
This new genius 3D mammogram machine is able to give doctors a much clearer image.
For some patients, detecting breast cancer is much more difficult.
Those patients are women with dense breast tissue, a personal history of cancer, and women between 40-60 years old.
This technology is said to be able to ease anxiety by giving more accurate and faster results.
“There will be fewer callbacks, because we can see things more clearly and we'll be able to pick out breast cancer at an earlier stage because we can see things better and earlier detection means better survival,” said Linda Lawrence of McLaren.
McLaren says the genius 3D machine, is the only mammogram FDA approved as superior for women with dense breasts and improves detection of more invasive breast cancers by 40 percent.
