Snow showers are forecast to move into mid-Michigan during the early hours of Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Clare, Isabella and Gratiot counties effective from 10pm tonight to 11am Friday.

Snow is expected to start around 5am coming in from the west and southwest and continue through the rest of the morning with accumulations of one to two inches possible.

This will have some impact during Friday's morning commute; drivers should expect some slippery conditions and reduced visibility at times.

Winds will strengthen dramatically by 12pm from the northwest at 10 to 25 mph with gusts ranging from 20 to 40 mph; this is expected to create snow squalls that may reach into mid-Michigan.
