Bay City Christmas Tree Lighting draws big crowds
A Bay City tradition didn't disappoint.
The annual Christmas Tree Lighting drew big crowds and many smiling faces.
It also has something new that a lot of people are excited about.
On a mild Black Friday night hundreds gathered here at Wenonah park for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Everyone's leaving with full hearts and lots of memories.
For another year a giant Christmas Tree covered in thousands of lights glitters in downtown Bay City. But it's not the only thing that lit up. Plenty of faces did too, especially when Santa arrived.
“I had so much fun and this is probably going to be one of the best things ever, because I get to be with my family,” Bella Whyte said.
Bella and her grandfather Pete Whyte were among the crowd trying out the park's newest addition: a synthetic ice skating rink.
“I always love being with the kids any chance I get to be with them is the greatest for me,” he said.
“It's the best thing to do. I wouldn't have it any other way,” Michael Bacigalupo said.
Michael Bacigalupo helped make the outdoor rink a reality. He hopes it's another way people can enjoy what matters this holiday season.
“Being around family enjoying things and this kind of stuff we can do together and having fun,” he said.
This tree will stay lit up throughout the holiday season. And if you want to try your luck at ice skating admission is free and skate rentals are five dollars.
