Flint police have reported that a 8-month-old child has died as the result of a crash in Flint.

It happened Tuesday at 12:12 p.m. on Stewart Avenue at the I-475 Exit.

According to police, 26-year-old Gabrielle Kent was traveling with her 8-month-old son Micah Kent in a maroon Mercury Sable.

They were proceeding eastbound on Stewart through the intersection with a green light from a stopped position when police say they were struck from behind by another vehicle.

That vehicle, a maroon Saturn, was driven by a 34-year-old man who is currently being lodged in the Flint city lockup.

Initially, Micah was taken to Hurley Hospital in critical condition with head trauma, but later died of his injuries.

Drugs and speed are believed to be factors in this crash, according to police.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to please contact Sgt. Jason Groulx at 810-237-6811.
