Family of teen killed in crash create scholarship in her memory
FREELAND, Mich - A family from Freeland is coming together to remember a Freeland High School freshman killed in a car crash this past weekend.
Bailee Mantei was a freshman at Freeland High School who loved soccer and is being remembered as someone who could have put a smile on anyone's face.
"This kid was amazing, she played soccer since she was four years old, she loved academics, she was a self proclaimed nerd, that's her word, always a smile on her face," said Jeff Mantei, Bailee's uncle.
"When you start to hear people tell the story about what she did in peoples lives and how she touched peoples lives at 14 years old it amazes me , people don't accomplish what she accomplished in her whole lifetime," said Jeff Mantei.
Bailee loved soccer and one day wanted to play soccer in college.
To honor Bailee's memory a scholarship has been established.
The family has already raised $6000 in 24-hours and is looking for a total of $15,000.
