Fire in building basement uncovers marijuana grow operation
FLINT, Mich. – A fire inside a commercial building on Flint’s east side revealed a marijuana grow operation.
The fire was reported at approximately 9:45 p.m. Monday at 1801 Lewis Place near Davison Road.
Fire officials say the blaze started in the basement.
As crews fought the fire, the grow operation was discovered in the basement.
No one was found inside and it was unclear what the building’s official use was or who owned it.
The Michigan State Police arson investigator will be brought in to determine the cause, but fire officials say the electrical equipment used in the grow operation was the likely cause.
