Flint church to distribute free winter clothing to families in need
Whether we like or not, winter is just around the corner. As the temperatures continue to drop a Flint church is stepping up to help keep families warm.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is giving away free winter clothes Friday October 19th and Saturday, October 20th.
The church plans to give away 17,000 pounds of clothing. The items include winter clothes, boots, blankets and coats.
Anyone who needs a few extra layers to keep them warm is invited to come in and take advantage of the giveaway.
There will be clothes for men, women and children.
“It's a way to be able to give to those in need. It's a way to give a smile on a face to a mother who would not in other ways have clothing for her kids for coats and blankets to keep them warm at home. It's surprising as we talk to people as they come through the past few years how big of an impact this really does have on people,” says Bishop Pangerl.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is located at 1225 Robert T. Longway Boulevard just east of I-475 in Flint.
October 19th 10am-4pm
October 20th 10am- 1pm
The only thing you’ll need to bring along is a bag or container to put your items in.
