Flint mayor meets deadline to challenge recall petition against her
FLINT, Mich. - Flint Mayor Karen Weaver's office made Monday's deadline to submit a challenge to the petition demanding her recall before it's placed on November's ballot.
last week, a criminal complaint was filed with the police stating many people who signed the petition under false pretenses.
Thousands of signatures that were turned in to the Genesee County Clerk's Office in support of the recall were deemed valid, but now the mayor wants 1,200 thrown out.
"It seems unrealistic, we'll go through them one by one, we'll do our job. We have until 4:15 august 4 to complete this task. But I am going to ask my office to step it up and we'll be done Thursday that way it will give one day for anybody who has any concerns to have those addressed,” said county clerk John Gleason.
