Flood potential increasing for Tuesday and Wednesday

A Flood Watch is in effect from Monday at 5pm through Wednesday at 5pm for Gratiot and Isabella counties.

Flood potential is increasing across mid-Michigan for Tuesday through Wednesday.

1 to 3 inches of rainfall is likely for the entire region beginning Monday afternoon and continuing through Tuesday night.

A few locations could receive up to 4 or 5 inches of rain, depending on where the heaviest rain band and any thunderstorm activity sets up.

A Flood Watch is in effect for Gratiot, Isabella, and Clare counties and that Flood Watch could be expanded to include more of mid-Michigan if the flooding potential continues to increase.

The rainfall combined with melting snow, a frozen ground, and potential for ice jams on rivers could lead to flooding, especially in flood-prone areas and along river banks.
