Former wrestling champion delivers powerful message to Pinconning students
PINCONNING, Mich. – Former WWE wrestling champion and author Marc Mero delivering a powerful message to students at Pinconning High School Tuesday night.
Mero talked about how he overcame a drug addiction that almost killed him and the experiences he went through by being bullied as a youngster.
He talked about setting positive goals, making positive choices, and believing in yourself.
He shared his excitement of winning championships in boxing and professional wrestling, but reached a low point in when he lost most of what he enjoyed in his life.
"I think one of the reasons the kids connect with me is because of my honesty. I share stories about me overdosing on three occasions where I should l have been dead. But I wrestled against so many other guys that didn't make it and are not here today because of drug overdose and bad choices. And that's why our program is called Champion of Choice and we are defined by the choices we make in our life,” said Mero.
Mero is now a motivational speaker and author of the book, "How to be the Happiest Person on the Planet."
He has shared his story in more than 2,000 schools worldwide.
