General Motors may be coming to the city of Burton.
If this becomes a reality, officials said, it could bring hundreds of jobs to the area along with it.
At Monday night's city council meeting, GM was named the company behind a secretive $45 million industrial development.
Originally, all the mayor could say was the company interested in the location near the corner of Genesee and Davison Roads in Burton was on the Fortune 500 List.
While it is important to remember this isn't a done deal, officials said they remain positive because Burton has a lot to offer.
A GM spokesperson tells NBC25/ FOX66 News that the company is working with state and local officials to explore a tax abatement to support a potential construction project in Burton.
He said they will have a company representative at the special city council meeting Monday, May 7.
That is also when there will be a public hearing, where residents can weigh-in on the plan.
