How to stay safe around downed power lines
With strong winds battering Mid-Michigan, power outages are numerous in a few of our counties.
Watch the video or check out a few safety tips in case you come across downed power lines.
- Stay at least 30 feet away from downed power lines. Always report downed lines to your utility company.
- NEVER touch a downed power line. Lines may still be charged even if they are not sparking.
- NEVER try and move a downed line yourself. Using a tree branch or other object can cause the charge to jump from the line to you.
Stay safe, stay away, and call your utility company to report downed power lines.
