I-75 closed in Mt. Morris Township after boat-hauling truck hits overpass

MT. MORRIS TOWNSHIP, Mich. – I-75 was closed at I-475 in Mt. Morris Township due to a crash Monday.

According to police, a tractor trailer hauling a boat heading southbound on I-75 hit the Coldwater Road overpass.

The truck stopped further down the freeway and the driver was not hurt.

No other vehicles involved.

Mt. Morris Township Police Chief Terrence Green believes it was the boat which hit the overpass.

MDOT is assessing damage to the bridge/overpass to determine whether it suffered any structural damage.

Southbound I-75 as well as northbound and southbound I-475 to I-75 in Mt. Morris Township were closed as crews worked to clear the scene.

All lanes of traffic were reopened just before 3 p.m.
