An internal test of a Consumers Energy system led to widespread power outages throughout mid-Michigan, according to a news release.

The outages were originally reported around 1 p.m. Friday.

There are currently 15,000 customers without power in the Flint and Midland area.

Consumers Energy says that customers can expect their power to be restored by 4 p.m.
