Lifesaving Narcan rescue kits and training in Mid-Michigan
In 2016 more than 40,000 people died of opioid overdoses.
There's program in Michigan giving people hope. It's called Second Chance Naloxone Project and offers free Narcan rescue kits to residents of Genesee Lapeer Sanilac and St. Clair Counties.
Before kits are given out people must take a training which goes over how to administer the drug and the proper steps to take when dealing with someone going through an overdose.
There's also an educational component to the class that explains addictions and opioids.
