Local community gather to celebrate the first day of Kwanzaa
SAGINAW, Mich. - December 26 is the first night of the African American celebration, Kwanzaa.
A celebration was held in Saginaw at the First Ward Community Center.
The non-religious holiday lasts seven days and honors African American culture.
Each day is dedicated to a principle and called by a Swahili name.
On the first day of the celebration is "Umoja," which means unity.
