FLINT, Mich. -- The idea for the M.A.D.E Institute was created by two friends who met while incarcerated.

Leon El-Alamin and Tim Abdul-Matin founded the program that focuses on providing support to men and eventually women after they are released from prison.

The program touches on everything from financial literacy to job training and housing.

The transitional house that was recently completed is on Flint's north side and will be home to four former prisoners.

"I means so much to us to get to this point, we want to be mentors to these men and help them continue to take a different path in life," said El-Alamin.
