Michigan State Police rescue man from Flint River

James Williams was rescued near this spot in the Flint River.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) rescued a man who had fallen into the Flint River and was unable to get out.

James Williams of Flint was fishing along the river when he fell in.

Police say Vance Johnson, of Flint, called 911 after hearing cries for help while walking by.

When the MSP showed up they could see Williams struggling in the water.

One trooper quickly got out of the vehicle and pulled Williams partway up over the concrete embankment. He held onto Williams until his partner could come and assist and pull Williams the rest of the way out of the river.
