Multiple departments called to investigate fire at Consumers Energy substation

GENESEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. --Multiple fire departments were called to a Consumers Energy substation on Thursday morning to investigate a fire.

It happened around 10:45 a.m. in the 10000 block of Genesee Road.

According to Debbie Dodd with Consumers Energy, the substation is owned by ITC Holdings.

ITC Holdings released this statement about the fire:

" We can confirm that as of 1027 EDT the Thetford 345/138kV Transformer is on fire. Personnel were in the station at the time of the event but no injuries were reported. We are working with the fire department and emergency response plans have been activated. We will continue to provide updates as soon as they are available. The source of the fire is under investigation."
