FLINT, Mich. - A new initiative to get people in Flint to read was launched Wednesday.

It's called ‘Extra Extra Read All About It’ and it’s designed to get residents engaged in year-round reading.

Mini libraries are being set up inside Flint barbershops.

And soon there will be a Flint Reading Hall of Fame.

It's all to promote the joy of books.

"All residents are asked to put up the electronics devices away, pack them up and pick up a book," said assistant superintendent Shawn Merriweather.

The program is sponsored in part by the Flint Community Schools and the Literacy Network.
